The Circle ministry is a vehicle for communication, fellowship, education and service enhancement.  Developed to provide an atmosphere for individual members to be nurtured, disciple, empowered, enabled and equipped to reach their maximum spiritual potential.

Christian Education provides Christian educational opportunities for each member of church to cultivate a nurturing community for developing disciples for Christ.
 

The mission of the First Baptist Church Child Development Center is to provide Day Care services for young children (2-5) in a healthy, safe and harmonious environment, through guidance, thereby giving opportunities of discovery to stimulate growth.

The Men’s Ministry provides opportunities for the discipleship and spiritual growth of men.

The Women’s ministry serves as a comprehensive ministry to impact the lives of women and encourages creative growth and spiritual fulfillment.

The Music Ministry fosters worship, praise and the proclamation of the Word. Every effort is made to develop an appreciation for all forms and styles of music to reach and involve each age group.

Senior Citizens Mission It’s goal is to help alleviate many of the spiritual and social barriers of the elderly which prevent them from living productive and satisfying lives.  In order to accomplish this, the following programs will be established:  (a) develop recreational, educational and cultural activities for Senior Citizens, and (b) organize a Senior Citizens’ Gospel Choir to render music for services.

Bible Study This learning tool is important for the effective growth and service of each Christian.  It’s teaching and instructions give adequate knowledge and understanding of the primary instrument for Christian witnessing.  Because of the tremendous need for increased knowledge of the Bible, First Baptist Church shall endeavor to implement special activities and features in its program to encourage more Bible reading and study.

Marriage Enrichment Ministry - The mission of the Marriage Enrichment Ministry in First Baptist Church is to cultivate an atmosphere where couples can find enrichment and growth based upon biblical and practical experiences and realities.

 

The Youth Ministry develops the youth of our congregation and of the greater community to be spiritually and socially prepared to meet and overcome life challenges. The ultimate  goal  is that each youth will discover and manifest God’s will and plan for their lives.

The mission of the FBC Homeless Committee is to go out into the highways and hedges to reach men and women who are without shelter and present Christ.   The Friday Night Evangelism mission is to go out on the streets and pray among the homeless, provide hot meals, medicine (over the counter), gloves, personal hygiene items and blankets. 

The Deliverance Ministry is intended to empower its members to use spiritual strength to combat the strongholds on their lives.

 

Political Action and Public Relations  - This ministry is to extend First Baptist Church’s influence into the community and the city at large in an attempt to make the metropolitan Washington areas prevailing philosophies of life more congruent with Christ’s philosophy.  Activities include:  (a) Voter registration drive, (b) A Get-Out-And-Vote Campaign, (c) Political action workshops, (d) Bi-monthly meetings with local and Ward politicians, (e) Attending Public Agency meetings, and (f) Providing legislative information.

Community Involvement - C.A.C.S. – promotes a number of services in churches throughout the city: after school, housing, health, and homeless initiatives.  The Tri-Community Public Charter School (PCS) mission is to provide rigorous, academic education with a career option and enable students to develop a sound ethical framework in a supportive, caring education community.  The Washington Project is a entrepreneurship training, and The Petworth Clergy Coalition - group of Pastoral Representatives of churches in the Petworth area who seek to collaborate on issues of common interest and community needs.

The Information Technology Ministry is an equipping ministry which seeks to maximize the utilization of our technological infrastructure for the delivery of services and programs throughout the church and community.    meeting regularly with public officials.
